The first thing we noticed about this press was its weight. Constructed of cast iron and stainless steel, this juice press is heavy. It is advertised as commercial grade and if the weight is any indication of its durability, it should last for a very long time. For the scientifically inclined, this press is capable of generating 2300 PSI (pounds per square inch) of force. This force is easily generated at the pull of a lever, making this citrus press something that just about anyone in the family can operate. The lever is rubberized and ergonomically shaped to make it easy on the hand doing the pressing.
The Olympus Extra Large Commercial Juice Press will handle a variety of fruit sizes, as well. From pomegranate to oranges, grapefruits to lemons and limes, this juicer can deliver a fresh glass of squeezed juice whenever you want it.
The cast iron construction is definitely a game maker. Weighing in at 20 pounds, this is not some flimsy little squeezer that’s going to fall apart in the face of a nice sized grapefruit. It stays put on the kitchen counter, too. You don’t have to worry about it sliding off when you’re pressing down on your lemons.
The size of this unit might be a bit surprising when you first take it out of the box. With dimensions of 12 x 16 x 20 inches, it simply isn’t an imposing figure. But don’t let the size fool you; there’s a lot of pressing power in this juicer. The “extra-large” descriptor in the product’s name refers to the size of the fruits it is able to accommodate, not an indication of how much space it’s going to take up on your kitchen counter.
If you don’t like a lot of pulp in your juice, you’re going to love this Olympus B000O2J906 juice press. When squeezing citrus like oranges or lemons, it doesn’t deliver a lot of pulp into the juice. So there’s no need to strain it out if you prefer your juice without the pulp.
When you run across those monster sized fruits, like those grapefruits or pomegranates that think they are actually soccer balls, you can still run them through this juicer. Simply cut the fruit in half before pressing and you’re good to go.
On The Downside
There isn’t a lot of downside to this product but we all know that no product is ever 100% for everybody. The weight of the unit that helps it maintain its stability on the counter top can be a negative for some. If you’re planning to put it away in a cabinet when not being used and take it out when needed, that weight could get to be a problem. Also, some purchasers who have reported that there is a tendency in some of the screws and bolts to loosen after a time. That is an easy enough problem to fix, however. As part of any routine maintenance check on this or any piece of equipment, screws and bolts should be checked and tightened when needed.
And there’s the matter of the pulp. If you are one who likes a lot of pulp in your juice, you may be disappointed in the amount of pulp that comes through when the fruit is pressed with this unit.
What Are Others Saying?

The Olympus Extra Large Commercial Juice Press looks almost too simplistic to actually work. But the looks are definitely deceiving. Pick up this unit and the weight tells you that this is one piece of equipment that is very solidly put together. The cast iron and stainless steel construction make it capable of holding up to a lot of usage day after day. The rubberized coating to the handle means you can press to your heart’s content without worrying about your hand protesting.
Large fruits like grapefruit and pomegranates are not a problem for the Olympus Extra Large Commercial Juice Press. It can handle these fruits, although with the really huge ones you may need to slice it in half. It effectively squeezing the juice from the fruit without cutting into the rinds. It doesn’t pull a lot of pulp, however, so if you’re a pulp person, you may be a bit disappointed.
Clean up is easy, as there are only two parts that have to be cleaned. A simple rinsing will do for an on-the-fly clean up. Bolts and screws do have to be checked periodically to maintain a tight lock but that should be part of any standard maintenance routine.
When taken as a whole, the Olympus Extra Large Commercial Juice Press is a solid piece of equipment and is available at a decent price. You probably can’t go wrong with this on your kitchen counter.
